Doesn&#8217;t matter what size. In general, it&#8217;s always good to use a transparent background when working on a graphic. Also, if you&#8217;re designing for the web, the standard is to use a resolution of 72-96 (300+ if for print).<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-two.png\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-two.png\" alt=\"Shiny Text: Step 2\" width=\"1920\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Select the <em>Text Tool<\/em> and add some text.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-three.png\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-three.png\" alt=\"Shiny Text: Step 3\" width=\"1920\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Right-click on the layer in the <em>Layers<\/em> panel and select &#8220;Rasterize Type&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-four.png\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-four.png\" alt=\"Shiny Text: Step 4\" width=\"1920\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Select the <em>Rectangular Marquee Tool<\/em> (or circular if you prefer) and run it across the top half of the text and go to:<\/p>\n<p><em>Image<\/em> > <em>Adjustments<\/em> > <em>Brightness\/Contrast<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For <em>Brightness<\/em>, add about +20 to +30 and click &#8220;OK&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 5.<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-five.png\" rel=\"attachment\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/webguy.io\/blog\/images\/posts\/shiny-text-step-five.png\" alt=\"Shiny Text: Step 5\" width=\"1920\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s it.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there are other little things like adding an <em>Outer Glow<\/em>, <em>Inner Glow<\/em>, <em>Stroke<\/em>, etc. to the text to enhance the shininess a little more.
